Aged 11 years, Arnold started weight training after seeing magazine photos of Steve Reeves and Reg Park. Press quote: "so I wanted to be like Reg". In 1966, Oscar gave him his first opportunity by inviting him to compete in the NABBA Universe contest. Arnold was just 18 years old. Later press quotes: "I knew I was a winner and destined for great things. People will say that kind of thinking is totally immodest; I agree. Modesty is not a word that applies to me anyway" - "I set out to be the best and I am". Who could disagree when he won the NABBA Mr Universe, five times and the IFBB Mr Olympia, seven times. Arnold moved on to become a mega film star, "Hasta La Vista baby", a Real Estate entrepreneur and a very generous benefactor to numerous goo causes. Most recent is one million dollars, towards the Twin Towers Ground Zero Appeal. |
